Canberra Seniors

A Meeting Place for the Over 50s

This Month

Dear Friends

A reminder that Singing for Fun starts Tuesday 30 April and will run 2pm-3 pm. This will probably run in 10-week blocks to coincide with school holidays. Please consider coming along to support this new venture.

The current ACT Age-Friendly City Plan ends in 2024 so consultation is underway to find out what is working well and what can be improved to enhance the lives of older Canberrans. You can provide your feedback online. There will be an interactive display installed at the Centre and that will provide other ways of responding. Keep an eye out for this. All of us experience growing older in our own ways. The personal experiences and insights you share as part of this consultation will help create the next Age-Friendly City Plan to meet the needs of all older Canberrans.

A reminder that if you park in the driveway, the best option is to enter from Watson St side and go as far along as possible. You can then drive straight out into McKay Gardens. I am negotiating more parking vouchers to use in the Government parking. If you have a voucher, please use the street parking and leave the onsite spaces for others.

A second-hand Smart TV will be attached to the wall in the Frazer Room. This will allow classes to use YouTube and other online material for instruction, entertainment and so on.

A few minor repairs were completed last week. Let me know if you notice any issues that need attention.

We always have new members joining the Seniors Centre. It is fantastic to see that they are always made welcome. Thank you.

RSVP for Birthday lunches and for Lunch and Learning is essential. You can book for May 9 Birthday Lunch here and for May 23 Lunch and Learning here. And how about joining us for Trivia on 16 May? RSVP here.

Fete planning is underway. Every donation helps! The back office is ready and waiting for Trash and Treasure, books, toys, electrical goods, DVDs, etc. And the gift of your time and expertise is beyond value! Your cooking, gardening, serving, selling is all important.

Immediately prior to the Fete there will be no classes on Friday 31 May or on the afternoon of Thursday 30 May.

Best wishes

Andrea Dean CEO
